What I chose was a school project designed by Patricio Murphy. Glow was a project featuring Patricio's favorite artists who are interested in pop culture. Although it was never published, the design is well put together, with many different artists contributing, and all of their designs worked well together. Nothing was competing with each other; the overall design was just perfect, with its colors and layout. If this was a published pamphlet, I would definitely keep it even though I can't understand what it says.

The layouts featured in the image serve as great examples of how to lay images and text out on a grid in interesting and different ways. It looks like there is about the same amount of text and the same number of images in each of these layouts, but they are each set up differently in terms of columns and positioning that it makes each page look different from one another. For the flyer we will be creating for this project, we hope to implement this differentiation in layout, while still keeping similar style rules and a grid to make each flyer look different, but also like they come together as a set.

I feel like psychogeography fits in a lot with contemporary art. The article said that psychogeography is the fact that you have an opinion about a space the moment you step into it and that’s how I feel when I look at an artwork. There’s the initial feeling of attraction or repulsion and the more you sit in the space the more of an opinion you can form. Sometimes this can be swayed by artists’ statements or piece description when they explain what is being shown and artist intentions, but I love the initial moment when you first see a piece and can form your own opinion about it. I also really like the idea of remaking the world. So much art has been made, and the challenge is making it in a new and exciting way. There’s this one artist I saw, Richard Long, who creates land art out of nature he finds on his walks. He sees walking as a creative act instead of a process to get to a destination. And the artworks he makes are very cool.
